  Nathan, you are providing a very valuable service, which more should avail themselves of - especially the young, and especially in these times!

  I wholeheartedly agree that the WBTS keeps their drones perpetually bizzy 'building up treasures in heaven' while giving zero attention to how these poor schleps are going to survive daily in the ever-ending 'present system of things'. Jehovah will provide is the mantra, but heaven help you if you land in dire straits...all your problems are 'inevitably your own fault' and any hope you ever had of the 'brothers coming to your aid' are quickly dashed. The last time I heard the comfortably cushioned CO drone on about retirement planning being 'false reasoning' and the need for shift-working brothers to find alternate employment so as not to miss meetings, I decided enough was enough. At least the Christian radio programs out there offer some kind of financial planning information to their adherents. The WBTS is too lazy to even assist in that meagre way. They just want YOUR MONEY, is all.

  So I just wanted to express my appreciation for your efforts. I've learned something new today - how to ladder CDs. Thank you!

  It occurred to me that the timing in the drones considering this 'material' is perfect as it is the same week that they will inevitably be coming into contact with all the diseased, amoral/immoral ex/Df'd/DA'd/fading/submarine Witnesses that will compulsorily be attending the annual census taking aka Memorial this week. Another dose of FEAR and CONTROL so that nobody gets too friendly with those who do show up, for fear they be contaminated by those no longer in the fold...

  Does WBTS Separate Itself From the 'Religion' of Jehovah's Witnesses?

  does wt consider itself individual and apart from the jw congregations?.

  does wt have a legal responsibility to the congos in any way?

  (or is this just an occassional "advisement" courtesy?).

  Good question.

  I recall a few years back some instruction that we were no longer to use the term "the Society", which I found strange but merely accepted without question, as I guess the great majority always do...

  In the same vein, I seem to recall that the contribution boxes at the conventions went from saying "Donations to the Society" to "Donations for the World-Wide Work". In retrospect, it would indeed appear that they are trying to maintain two separate entities, probably for legal reasons. This legal maneouvring, I would hope, will be their eventual undoing as more and more hopefully recognize that the WBTS is nothing but a publishing empire masquerading as a religion.

  thank you for the interesting email forward .

  i am a little surprised that this is something being passed on though .

  i remember at conventions being advised to be careful when passing along unsubstanciated experiences because they seem to become embellished along the way , which i expect has occured in this case .

  Your response is fantastic! To a JW everything is SIMPLE, black or white - they are not used to getting information both pro and con on any issue - so it should open their eyes as to stuff they HAVEN"T BEEN TOLD for once...VERY GOOD!

  Why do they never invite you for a meal but always encourage you to attend meetings?

  today, an elder in my hall phoned and left a message saying he would stop by with a memorial invitation.. this elder has never bothered to encourage me in the past when i was missing meetings, yet suddenly he remembers me in the run up to the memorial.. i got to thinking about this - a few in our congregation called us when they found out we were inactive, encouraging us to go back to meetings.

  or they would say, "it's the co visit next week, you have to come listen to his talk.".

  i would give these "genuine ones" their due - they made an effort - but, when i think about it what effort have they actually made?.

  We sure had a lot of the 'brothers' and 'sisters' over throughout the years...many enjoyed themselves at our place. Now, that we've faded, haven't been to a meeting except for the Memorial in over a year, they INVITE THEMSELVES over to OUR PLACE to encourage US! You've just gotta love it. We actually had them over, because that is our way, and enjoyed ourselves.

  However, I was just thinking the other day how there is no way that I could just show up unexpectedly at any one of their doors, much less invite myself and family over, but these people seem to be able to drop in unexpectedly, through the week, around dinner-time, just for a 'few minutes', you name it, they've got the nerve! They can also call and ask if it's ok for them to come over on such and such a time, because our 'place is bigger than theirs!' Where do they get the chutzpah???

  How did you feel about attending another church?

  this question is for those who have attended another church since leaving the jw's.. i have considered attending a local church, firstly out of curiosity and secondly because i do enjoy discussing the bible with people and learning new thoughts on scripture.. the only thing that stops me though is crossing that line.

  i guess it was a bit like when i first posted here, it took me ages to pluck up the courage and now what was the big deal?.

  did anyone else have this feeling before attending another church, that feeling of crossing the line of no return.

  It was the sudden death of a pet that propelled me into a church, around the corner from my place of employment. I was grieving and felt that I just wanted to sit silently somewhere and thank the Creator for the marvellous gift that our family had enjoyed throughout the years we had her. It crossed my mind that the Kingdom Halls were NEVER OPEN to the public and yet here was this humoungous church, in the middle of the City, open to anyone who wanted to, to just enter and contemplate. I spent my entire lunch hour there, and saw many come and go, very respectfully saying prayers or meditating. And I felt God's presence, even though I had been brainwashed almost my entire life, to believe that this was 'Satan's domain'. Since then, I've visited different churches, and can pretty much echo the sentiments of other posters, people are people! Doesn't really matter the religion, you've got good and bad everywhere! But there is definitely something about the OLD OLD churches that draws me in - the beautiful architecture, the artwork, the pipe-organs, you name it - the Kingdom Hall can't hold a candle to any of them for atmosphere.

  I know this is off topic but Masterji's comment just reminded me of another reason to avoid meetings - there are more blame fool 'letters' read at these meetings than anything else. BORING, BORING, BORING.

  Good thread, though! Interesting to see how everything falls into place once you realize the bottom line is covering their collective ass, legally. It's always about the money.

  British Sociologist Predicts Possible Collapse in Jehovah's Witness Numbers

  a newly published article by british sociologist david voas argues jehovah's witnesses may be about to experience a collapse in numbers.

  contrary to claims by american sociologist rodney stark who predicts strong future growth for jehovah's witnesses, voas shows that jehovah's witnesses' efforts at recruiting new members have become increasingly unsuccessful over the past few decades: the rate of increase has steadily declined, and the number of hours each publisher must preach to produce an extra convert has gone up substantially.

  voas suggests a reason for the stagnation may be that there is a natural limit to the number of people in a given population that are susceptible to conversion to sectarian groups like jehovah's witnesses - the 'carrying capacity' of the population, and that the limit has largely been reached.

  Wow - I fully concur with what this guy is saying. I think there's a tipping point coming, and once that critical stage is reached (within the next 5 years - 2014), the exodus will be EN MASSE. If I were a dub, and saw congregations shrinking massively and whole families leaving, something in the rear recesses of my mind would start going off and I'd be tempted to want to find out what is leading so many away, all AT THE SAME TIME! Eventually word of ongoing deception by the higher-ups in what is being dispensed to the rank and file will spread, and just like leaven (but this time in a GOOD WAY!), info will spread through the entire mass. I foresee this as a good thing, because at least people will not feel like they're the only ones who were duped; they'll have even more kinship with each other, because it will be a SHARED REALIZATION. Media attention focussed on the phenomenon will only help speed the downfall. Looking forward to interesting times ahead.

  You just can't stop the flow of information! At present, the congregations (not counting 3rd world countries, but they will eventually follow) are full of people inwardly quashing doubts, but simultandeously wondering if they've been had. Still going to the hall out of habit - but many staying home 'ill' (basically sick of the whole charade!).

  So many now openly admit that the world 'is FULL OF GOOD PEOPLE', and use that as the reason why they are doing the preaching work. That's a huge disconnect from previous bs that we have to rescue 'worldlies who have been deceived by Satan'. In my opinion, once you realize there are a lot of 'good people' in the world, the whole US vs. THEM mentality of the JW's begins to break down. HALLELUJAH!
